Modesto's most famous landmark, the Modesto Arch was erected in 1912 and spans 75 feet across I Street. The arch is illuminated by 668 lights, and is inscribed with the city's slogan, "Water, Wealth, Contentment, Health." The landmark is located on Ninth and I streets in downtown Modesto.
